“Kill Everything That Moves” – Part 5
Now the facts were beginning to be known. Military officials made a statement.

The Briefing
The truth was finally revealed—and it was worse than we imagined.
After hours of restless waiting, the military officials caved to the growing unrest. A high-ranking officer stepped onto a makeshift stage, his face illuminated by the flickering emergency lights. The entire bunker fell silent.
“Listen carefully,” he began, his voice strained. “As of now, all electronic devices—phones, satellites, even basic appliances—are non-functional. Our investigations suggest an extraterrestrial vessel is hovering above us, hidden within the dust clouds. We believe it’s massive—possibly the size of a continent, if not larger.”
A murmur of terror rippled through the crowd.
“The acidic substance raining from the sky? It originates from this ship. And it’s not random. It’s targeted .”
He paused, letting the weight of his words sink in.
“This substance dissolves human tissue on contact. But for other lifeforms—animals, insects—it doesn’t kill them. It changes them. Mutates them into aggressive, unrecognizable creatures. Whatever this is, it’s designed to erase humanity while repurposing the rest of Earth’s biosphere.”
The room erupted into chaos. Avva clutched Eva tighter, her face pale. The elderly woman, Olive, muttered prayers under her breath. I stood frozen, my mind racing.
How?
Why us?
Who the hell are they?
Then, another announcement cut through the panic:
“We need volunteers for a reconnaissance mission.”
I stepped forward without hesitation. To my surprise, Avva did too.
“You have a child,” I hissed.
“And she deserves a future,” Avva shot back, her voice steel. She kissed Eva’s forehead, whispering promises of return, before entrusting her to Olive.
We were led into a secured chamber—a mix of soldiers, scientists, and desperate civilians. A document was thrust into our hands:
CLASSIFIED: EYES ONLY
A general took the podium.
“This is a suicide mission. If you want out, leave now.”
No one moved.
He continued, grim.
“The ship is oval-shaped, spanning thousands of kilometers. It emits the substance in timed pulses. We’ve observed that it doesn’t just ‘kill’—it harvests . Animals infected by it become part of a hive-like network. We suspect it’s terraforming Earth… for something else.”
A biologist interjected, her voice shaking:
“It’s not just attacking us. It’s replacing us.”
