THE TRUTH IN THE LAB
The underground city of Newlife hummed with desperate energy. What we’d thought was a simple bunker revealed itself to be a sprawling subterranean metropolis—a Japanese-engineered ark buried beneath New York.

Professor Danny stood before the assembled team, her holographic display casting eerie blue light across our faces.

“Eluzacid isn’t random,” she began. “It’s targeted.”

The screen flickered, showing DNA strands—human versus animal.

“See this molecular marker? It’s present in 99.9% of human DNA… but absent in Earth’s other species. Eluzacid recognizes it. Triggers total cellular disintegration in its presence.”

Avva’s voice trembled. “Why?”

Danny zoomed in. The marker glowed red.

“Because it’s not natural.”

THE BOMBSHELL
A stunned silence. Then:

“This genetic sequence was artificially inserted into humanity’s genome. Millennia ago. And whatever’s up there…” She pointed upward. “…is treating it like a fail-safe.”

Ocean’s coffee cup shattered on the floor.

“You’re saying we’re designed to melt?”

Danny nodded grimly.

“Someone—or something—engineered humanity to self-destruct on command. The animals? They’re being repurposed as… workers. Scouts. Maybe even soldiers.”

THE CHOICE
Major John activated a new hologram—a massive orbital structure, its underside pulsing with violet light.

“Next pulse in 32 hours. We’ve located what we think is the central node. If we can reach it…”

“We what?” I interrupted. “Ask nicely for it to stop?”

John’s smile was razor-thin.

“We trigger the other sequence buried in our DNA. The one that lets us fight back.”

The screen changed. A single word flashed:
