‘Kill Everything That Moves’ Part 7

The samples brought to the laboratory were examined.

THE LABYRINTH BELOW
The samples we brought back were whisked away to the lab—everyone’s eyes glued to those vials. Aliens? A cosmic accident? The helicopter’s engines roared as we lifted off, but the sky betrayed us again.
The acidic rain returned.
“Move!” the officer barked. We scrambled aboard the massive quad-rotor helicopter—a technological marvel that shouldn’t have worked in this dead world. As we ascended, I prayed: Let the metal hold.
Back at the bunker, we waited for the downpour to stop. The survivors inside eyed us with a mix of relief and dread.
“What’s happening out there?” they begged.
“Patience,” the officer replied. “We’ll brief you after analysis.”
Avva and I rushed to Eva and Olive. The reunion was wordless—just crushing hugs. These people were my family now.
“We found something alive in the soil,” I whispered. “But no survivors.”
Then, a decision. I approached an officer.
“I want to help. However I can.”
He studied me. “Follow me.”
THE UNDERGROUND CITY
I expected a few rooms. What I got was a revelation.
The bunker wasn’t a shelter—it was a fully operational subterranean city beneath New York.
“How?” I gasped.
Major John Sam smirked. “Built in 2013 by a Japanese firm. They called it ‘Project Noah.’”
My blood ran cold. They knew. They’d been preparing for this.
THE TRUTH IN THE LAB
The lab was a hive of frantic activity. Scientists in hazard suits swarmed over our samples.
Then, Dr. Danny dropped the bomb.
“We’ve named it ‘Eluzacid.’ A self-replicating, DNA-altering pathogen. It doesn’t just kill—it rewrites life.”
She pointed to a screen showing the black sludge from my sample.
“In animals, it hijacks their cellular structure, turning them into… something else. But in humans?” A grim pause. “Total dissolution. Down to the bone.”
John’s jaw tightened. “Why?”
“Because it recognizes human DNA. Targets it specifically.”
The implication hung in the air:
This wasn’t an invasion.
It was an extermination.
